How crappy it looks when you scan it..
My brother advised me to practice copying characters or draw with a reference, so that's what I did. My choice was Shindo Hikaru from Hikaru no Go, as it's an outstanding manga drawn by an outstanding manga-ka. Cheers for Takeshi Obata! ^^ Sketch in mechanical pencil, then inked.
